We share our joys and sorrows,
encourage one another, and
worship and celebrate the Eucharist.

At our monthly meetings we have guest speakers, topical discussions, engage in Biblical studies and other forms of contemplative reflection, share Holy Communion and enjoy social outings.

WIDER NEWS

United Church of Christ Endorses Same-sex Marriages
July 4, 2005 -  At its Annual Conference, in Atlanta, Georgia, the UCC governing body voted to endorse same-sex marriages.  Apparently it was passed by an overwhelming majority of delegates, and while the decision does not mean that churches are forced to accept same-sex marriages, it is a step towards social equity that continues the UCC's reputation as a "liberal" and social justice minded denomination.  The issue is likely to remain controversial. The United Church of Christ is the largest Christian denomination to take this step.

The UCC represents a coming together of different Protestant traditions - Congregational, Evangelical Reformed (German ethnic background) and others, much like the UCA.

The ADELAIDE AFFIRMATION was launched on November 26th via the Uniting Network communication network.  This represents a significant "grass roots" staement to the church in the form of an affirming statement calling for an end to religious and civil discrimination against GLBT persons. There were twenty signatories in the first day.   View the document here Adelaide Affirmation.

The Assembly of the Uniting Church, through its Standing Committee, has established a three-step process to enable the Church to discuss issues relating to faith and sexuality prior to the 11th Assembly in 2006.  Information concerning development will be available from the Friends of Unity pages, in the near future.
